Survival What Does It Mean

51JQJEDT4HL__SL125_In some of my readings of late I have read that some people think that survival means that being the biggest and baddest person around will get them by.   Their or others who will band together with the shoot shovel and shut up to protect their families and friends when they are attacked.  For most of us using  books and information to aid in our survival, along with our family and friends, we will need to make new and varied alliances to survive when desaster strikes.

This last week I met a man who was putting his life on hold sitting along the side of the road selling stickers and tee shirts stating that our Constitution has been degrated because of Congresss laws and Presidents signings procumalations, causing us to lose a lot of our rights and freedoms.   This man was met with both acceptance and rejection for stating these facts that a lot of people don,t want to hear.  With out Constitional rights we will no longer live as a free nation but a slave to the power elete like Russia had and is moving away from.  When desaster strikes the more rights you have the better your chance for survival.

Emergency Suvival kit

Your Emergency Suvival Kit is worthless if you can,t get to it.  Where do you keep one of  your most precious food and medical supplies?51xDkGlpNsL__SL210_51HKWA70EVL__SL125_

If you hide them in a hard to get to place like a basement or attic you may not have immediate access to them when you need them.  Depending where you live will dictate where you keep your bug out supplies.  You should keep some supplies in your car, others in a closet on the way out of the house and for some it could the virtual wood pile in your yard.  What ever you do keep your bug out supplies where you can get at them in a hurry.  Don’t forget your car bug out bag and keep your car as full of gas as you can with no feul you won’t get very far.

Home Made Bread

Home made bread is one of those Emergency Supplies that once you start  using a bread machine and find out how easy it is to make with your own ingredients, you will wonder why you ever ate store bought bread.51WW2XPENHL__SL125_410HTNEWVFL__SL125_  With this type of  bread cooker you can now make pizza dough, squash bread and any type of bread that you like by just adding your ingredients to the the loaf pan and fill the house with the baking of bread.

For those of you who are on a special diet then these bread makers are one way to make sure your bread is healthier.  When buying one of these Bread makers you may not think about  these other uses, like making the dough for your biscuits,  french bread to cook in the oven or any other dough that you need by letting this machine do the mixing and the first rising of the dough.   The making of your own bread will help keep you out of the store and stop some of your impulse buying.

31Pe+0tPZXL__SL210_51ypxb7PmbL__SL125_For those of you that think that the United States will have all the food you want at a reasonable price, maybe you should look at the unemployment rate in the United States of over 10% with the Mexicans going back to Mexico and a lot of people not looking for work the real unemployment is much higher than reported.  There are some reports putting the unemployed and under employed closer to 20%.  With Social Security and the Federal Retirement systems being in jeopardy, and a lot of states going broke with no money to pay for services and welfare .  Where is your EmergencyFood Supply?  The Above food supplies are just a few of the items that  you may need to keep your family fed and warm.  Don’t make the mistake that your Collective governments will bail you out.  They all are going broke.51JQJEDT4HL__SL125_Make Sure that you are well informed about what is happing in the world around you through books and the internet don’t just watch the news on tv.

Camp Stove Use

Monday, February 15, 2010
posted by Grampy

Most of the time a camp stove sits in an out of the way place and forgotten.  When their is a power outage, like the ones this year in the South Eastern and Western United States, which left a lot of  people with out power. They probably would like a gas or propane cook stove.41KVBY2MBJL__SL125_  51MMKGT772L__SL125_

The one on the left is a Propane stove which is  clean and easy to use.  The one on the right is a Colman gas stove which you pour Coleman gas into, which may spill, but also in time of emergency you can use unleaded gas found in your car to make work.  Having a stove like one of these in your  Outdoor Survival Kitswill enable you to purify water an cook meals, when the power in your area is out.

Fire Friend Or Fo

The last Post I wrote had feedback that meals ready to eat were expensive and a camp stove was a better solution.  For people who like to cook and know how to  safely start your camp stove outside then bring it into the home, you now created a friend that will give you heat, purify water and cook you a meal.51cTQhbzAwL__SL210_

By just adding water to Bear Creek meals  using your Emergency food and supplies you can have a hot meal that your frend the fire will cook in a short order to feed your family and friends.

When I went to the Navajo Indian Reversation they had wood stoves to cook on where a lot of the people back East have no Emergency heat or Cooking source. With some planning ahead they could have an alternate cooking stove or Emergency Food Supplies containing Self-Heating Meals.

Self Heating meals like the one above can be of a great benefit for those of you who don’t want to go out during a storm they will provide you with a hot taste meal in a time of stress.  I suggest that in the winter or storm seasons that we all look ahead for a disaster at any time.

When Disaster Strikes

The Northern Arizona Navajo Nation was hit by an unusual large snow storm with the State of Arizona, President of the United States, and the Navajo Nation all declaring a state of emergency.  It was still a week later before they sent for snowmobiles to help with their rescue.  These Indians who lived in remote places were cutting down power poles, tearing trim and porches off their homes for heat.  There were a lot of them who were running out of basic food supplies.    With knowledge that at any given time in the United States there is 5,000 People with out power, you can start preparing with Books and Information  like the one pictured.51g5X0b6PkL__SL210_The Navajo family I helped was use to living with out power an were willing to snow shoe five miles one way to feed their livestock.   Are you ready to survive in a time of an Emergency or are you just going to let your Government save you when they can get organized?

In the home that I just moved into we have a wood stove with a flat top to heat and cook on, we just moved back a hundred years in time. For those of you that just know how to boil water Emergency Food Supplies will be great because most of the food is add water heat  and eat like this 275 meal bucket.31Pe+0tPZXL__SL210_

For those of us that know what a real baked potato taste like.  We just wrap them in tin foil and bake them inside the stove for supper or home fries the next morning.  We also cook almost anything you would want like stews, beans, roasts that just taste great from our Cast Iron Pot.  Yes we still have an electric cook stove my wife just likes to brag to me that she can cook a great meal with the wood stove.

What happened to the people in Haiti when the Earth Quake  left their survival to chance not choice?   With their government and normal food supply destroyed leaving a lot of them without food and clean water for more than a week.   Are you ready to survive a day, week or a month with out the use of a credit card, fresh store bought food or water?  What happens if you get hurt, with no medical personal able to help, do you know what to do?51xDkGlpNsL__SL210_  With Emergency Food Supplies kept in a safe place you will be able to have food and water in a time of chrises.  With the right medical information and preparation most of you will be able to treat cuts and other small emergencies can be taken care of.
