Family Fun during a Power Outage

emergency crank flashlightsParents of small children know that power outages can be a potentially unnerving experience for youngsters. Power failures are often accompanied by fearsome storms; the flash of lightning and roar of thunder can be frightening indeed. It’s up to parents to subvert that scariness, turning a power outage into an opportunity to bond as a family and have fun despite the hectic conditions outdoors.

It’s the perfect time to dust off a few board games, sit down at the dining room table and grab a few emergency crank flashlights. Light a few candles and place them at the table as well. Before long, the kids will become so wrapped up in the game that they will forget about the lack of electricity and the storm outside. Technology can be a great thing, but occasionally it’s nice to get back to basics.

EMERGENCY FOUR POLICE KILLED

The loss of four police at one time in Washington State makes for a sad day for all the people involved with these Police officers.  My heart, sympathy and prayers go out to their families.

This Slaughter of four police officers, whether by a deranged man or an organized group, the results will be the same if our Country is placed under Marshal Law; because of  H1N1 or lack of food.  These killing can cause a syndrome witch will place police against civilians,  during this time of stress on both sides.  If Marshal Law happens causing a slow down of people and goods. people will be trying desperately to unite with families.  The police will be more on edge because they now know that  people are willing to eliminate the on a whim.  Travelers should use caution  and carry at least a 72 hour emergency kit for peace of mind also carry plenty of water with this package .  Be careful if Marshal Law happens their will be long lines for everything.

Wood Burning

I moved into a new home, which was my cabin, and I have already lost the notion that using fire wood is so romantic.  It is a lot of hard work that warms you more ways than one, first by going and getting the wood, then by splitting and stacking away from the house, finally by moving wood into the house.  You are now ready for the romantic fire; when starting it up you  smoke everyone in the house.  While smoke is still in your eyes, you are upset and build a very hot fire and cook everyone.petzl

Now things are going  great and you’re enjoying the crackle of the fire.  What happens, you run out of fire wood.  Now you have to go to the wood pile with your Petzl Headlamp and start things all over again.

FLU AND EMERGENCIES

We now have a new flu in the Ukraine which has killed people 189 so far, with a million infected, according to Alex Jones.  In my opinion this is another flu like the H1N1, a mutation made by man.     With all of these new sicknesses going around you may want to increase your emergency supplies to at least a minimum of one month of Emergency Food Supplies so you stay out of PUBLIC areas.

275 day survivalWith this 275 meal Survival kit you have good start on keeping your family safe during a time of a short crisis.  Remember that you need to stock up on at least a gallon of water per day per person to make it through a all out crisis.  That is for 2 people for one week you need at least 14 gallons of drinking water to eat and drink.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day with your family and friends.  This is one time of year that we set aside time out of our busy lives to think about all our families and friends.   With a lot of people travailing I hope that you have your emergency kits I know in some parts of the USA we have snow and bad roads,  be extra careful and safe if you are on slick roads .  Have a joyous Holiday Season.key chain

To have fun and still have a small Emergency light at all times try a LED key chain.  This type will brighten everyone’s day, and provide a bright key hole light.

Enjoy the rest of the holidays.

WHY SOLAR ENERGY DESIGN

To build a Solar Energy System  or Wind Energy System you need some source of system design to build a usable system.  For most of us it is advantageous to get a cookie cutter system that is already designed and all you have to do is install accordingsolar systemsystem book to instructions.

For those of you that love to build your own solar energy

their are many books to help you design a usable Solar energy system or Wind Energy System.  One thing that you should remember is to buy larger inverters and battery regulators than what you think  for the first go around because you can then add storage batteries and solar panels or wind mills to increase the size of your system.  Making the up grade cheaper and easier to install.

Why A Years Supply Of Food

Those of you that know the Bible  may remember the story of when the seven thin cows ate the seven fat cows in other words seven good years were followed by seven bad years.  Since I was a child I have also heard that the LDS Church encouraged that you should have at least a year of Emergency food supplies for your Family.  mountain house 1 year supply

The Reason for Emergency Preparedness kits especially food in this time of the devalued U.S. dollar is that the cost of food is going to rise along with all staples.   I understand for most of us that to try to get all of these supplies on our own it will be hard to do.  The best way to get a good start is to buy an established years supply of dry food and add the sugar, oil, water along with the other supplies recommended by your supplier.  Remember one order is good only for one person for one year.

Why Wind Energy

When you decide to use Wind Energy to your advantage remember to check the speed and consistency of the wind in your area.  If you have high , low, constant or shifting wind energy in your area will let you determine the type and size of wind energy system that will do you the most good. Wind Energy and Solar Energy can be combined to give a person a more constant source of off the grid power.  Since they are both natures energy sources provided by clean wind  energy and solar energy you can help the environment and your self at the same time.  In some places you may be able to get a tax break for installing these systems along with being able to trade some power back to your local power company for your future use.

Why Long Storage Food

I have been going to the Utah bulk sales stores for the last few years but since the last changes in The Federal Government policies, which has devalued the dollar.  I am now seeing more Bulk food Items for Emergency Supplies.    food kitThese Supplies come in the form of Emergency food, Emergency lighting, and Emergency safety kits of all kinds.

You need the storage of all of these emergency supplies especially food, because they may be hard to come by in times of natural disasters.  There is also the possibility, with the devalued dollars on the international market, that food may be the most valued item that you have.
